David Strathairn has joined the cast of Sacha Gervasi’s November Criminals opposite Ansel Elgort, Chloë Grace Moretz and Catherine Keener. The pic begins filming today in Rhode Island and Washington D.C. Eastern Promises scribe Steven Knight wrote the script adapting the Sam Munson novel that follows two teenagers into the D.C. underbelly as they investigate the murder of their friend while falling in love for the first time.

Beth O’Neil is producing alongside Erika Olde of Black Bicycle Entertainment, which is co-financing with Lotus Entertainment; the latter is also handling international sales. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions acquired the film for the English-speaking world, as well as numerous international territories, and Lotus’ Ara Keshishian and SPWA’s Joe Matukewicz are overseeing production.

Strathairn, a Best Actor Oscar nominee for Good Night, And Good Luck, has been plenty busy with roles on NBC’s The Blacklist and on the big screen in recent pics The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and 2012’s The Bourne Legacy. He also won an Emmy in 2010 for HBO’s miniseries Temple Grandin. He is repped by ICM Partners and Ryan Entertainment.
