We knew that Netflix’s Canadian thriller Between would premiere sometime in May — we now have a date. Star Jennette McCurdy tweeted today that it will debut on May 21, but you won’t be able to binge watch like other Netflix series. The streaming service will space out the six one-hour episodes on a weekly basis because of a three-way deal in which it will air on Rogers Broadcasting’s City TV stations in Canada and will be available on Canadian subscription service Shomi. Check out McCurdy’s tweet that includes a teaser.

The survivalist thriller series was created by Canadian writer/director Michael McGowan (Still Mine). It tells the story of a town under siege from a mysterious disease that has wiped out everybody except those 21 years old and under and chronicles the power vacuum that results when a government has quarantined a 10-mile diameter area and left the inhabitants to fend for themselves.

McGowan executive produces along with Don Carmody (Resident Evil), David Cormican (The Tall Man), and Naveen Prasad. Canadian-born Emmy-winning director Jon Cassar (24) will helm the first two episodes. The series is produced by Don Carmody Television, Mulmur Feed Co. and in association with Elevation Pictures Corp.
