The laughs will continue for Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani’s stand-up series. Comedy Central has renewed The Meltdown With Jonah And Kumail for a second season. The series is shot documentary-style at the Nerdist Showroom in the back of L.A.’s Meltdown Comics.
“We are very pleased to be doing a second season of the show, if only to have another classic ‘Kent Alterman quote’ in a press release,” said executive producers Emily Gordon, Ray and Nanjiani, a regular on HBO’s Silicon Valley. “No comment,” added Alterman, the cable net’s President of Content Development and Original Programming. Red Hour’s Ben Stiller, Debbie Liebling, Stuart Cornfeld and Mike Rosenstein are exec producers.
Along with the stand-up, The Meltdown also features backstage moments with comics and celebrities who stop by to hang out in the green room during the weekly live comedy show. Guests in the freshman season included Jim Gaffigan, Chris Hardwick, Michael Ian Black, Marc Maron, Garfunkel and Oates, Paul Sheer, Nick Offerman and Weird Al Yankovic.
