Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired U.S. rights to Tangerines, the Estonian pic that is a nominee for this year’s Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. Writer-director Zaza Urushadze’s pic centers on an older Estonian man who cares for two wounded soldiers from opposite sides of the 1990s-era war in Georgia. A release is planned this year.

The deal was negotiated by Samuel Goldwyn VP and general counsel Ian Puente and Cinemavault chairman Nick Stiliadis on behalf of the filmmakers.
