This is the second video blog from the set of Spectre, the 24th film in the official James Bond series. After a glimpse at Daniel Craig’s superspy in the Austrian Alps a few weeks ago, we now hear from director Sam Mendes, talking about why he decided to return to for another run helming the film after the massive successes of his ‘Skyfall,’ the biggest in the franchise’s history.
There’s more behind-the-scenes footage in this segment than in the previous one. Serious Bond fans may recall that Mendes hemmed and hawed a bit after 2012’s blockbuster Oscar winner Skyfall.
Mendes calls Spectre “a movie entirely driven by Bond” and says it is “tied to the second part of the crucial story of Bond’s chlidhood.” He also notes that in Skyfall, he initiated Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny and Ben Whishaw as Q, and “wanted to tell the next stage of their stories and develop them as characters” as they take on great risk in this installment.
The Sony/MGM/Eon Spectre releases on November 6. Check out the video. What do you think? Are you a fan of the Bond series? Looking forward to this one?
