WGN America has just released some pretty provocative key art for Season 2 of drama series Salem, which picks up at the dawn of a violent Witch War (hence the featured tagline). It finds Salem’s most powerful witch, Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery), forced to face off against adversaries old and new who are vying for her throne, as the disease and devastation unleashed by a deadly supernatural ritual spread through the war-torn village. Among the images — Mary Sibley (Montgomery) clinging upright to a cross in a village/world turned upside down.
Montgomery, along with Shane West, Seth Gabel, Ashley Madekwe, Tamzin Merchant, Elise Eberle and Iddo Goldberg are all returning for Season 2 of the series set in the volatile world of 17th century Massachusetts. New to the second season are Lucy Lawless, Stuart Townsend, Joe Doyle and Oliver Bell.
Salem is executive produced by Brannon Braga, Adam Simon, Kelly Souders, Brian Peterson and Prospect Park’s Josh Barry and Jeff Kwatinez. Nick Copus directs and serves as co-executive producer. The series is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios.
Salem Season 2 premieres April 5.
