EXCLUSIVE– Brit director Marc Munden is in talks to direct FilmNation’s hot sci-fi thriller Aether. Deadline first broke the news last March that Glen Basner’s ambitious company had moved quickly to acquire Krysty Wilson-Cairns’ spec script and to produce, finance and handle worldwide sales on the project.

This is a plum gig for Munden, whose sterling work directing British TV series Utopia earned plenty of critical kudos at home and abroad.  Munden has built up a reputation as one of the UK’s most versatile filmmakers. Other credits include the powerful Iraq war drama The Mark of Cain and the ambitious BBC mini-series The Crimson Petal and the White.

Plot details are currently being kept under wraps. Wilson-Cairns initially developed the script with her UK agent and then wrote on spec. It was brought in by FilmNation director of development Patrick Chu.

Munden is repped by Independent Talent Group in the UK, and WME in the U.S.
