As rock stars on Broadway go, it looks like John Cameron Mitchell has more pull with ticket buyers than Sting. Mitchell, the co-creator and original off-Broadway star of Hedwig And The Angry Inch, joined the hit Broadway revival of the rock tuner, where his role was first re-created to great acclaim by Neil Patrick Harris and followed by others, most recently Michael C. Hall. The show has been a Tony-winning runaway hit at the Belasco Theatre.
Mitchell now announces that he’s extending his stay through Sunday, April 26. After that, there will be another new Heddie. (Sting, who stepped into a major role to help keep his The Last Ship afloat, didn’t fare so well; that show folded after an unexpectedly brief run.)
