Childrens Hospital‘s Erinn Hayes is set as the female lead in Problem Child, NBC’s single-camera comedy pilot inspired by the 1990 Universal Pictures/Imagine feature that starred John Ritter and Amy Yasbeck as a couple conned into adopting a troubled 7-year-boy who wreaks havoc in their lives and leaves a path of destruction anywhere he goes. The TV adaptation, written by Scot Armstrong, is described as a family show about the cat-and-mouse game between a set of parents and their brilliant but mischievous child. Hayes, repped by UTA and Sweeney Entertainment, has been cast as the mom, a role played in the movie by Yasbeck. Armstrong is executive producing with Brian Grazer, Bob Simonds, Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan for Universal TV.

This marks Hayes’ return to NBC where she starred in the comedy series Guys With Kids. She also has been recurring on the final season of the network’s Parks And Recreation and on Fox’s New Girl.
