Entourage executive producers Ally Musika, Stephen Levinson and Mark Wahlberg are reuniting for another HBO comedy project built around the autobiographical story of a guy in the entertainment industry. On Entourage, it was Wahlberg and his early Hollywood years, this time it is Sirius radio hip-hop radio host Jude Angelini. Titled Hyena, the project is inspired by Angelini’s book of the same name, a collection of autobiographical stories. It takes a look at the life of a radio show host.
Writer-producer Musika, a fan of Angelini and his book, tracked down the property and has been driving the project. She will co-write the script with Angelini. The two will serve as executive producers alongside frequent collaborators Stephen Levinson of Leverage Entertainment and Mark Wahlberg of Closest to the Hole Prods. Joe Grano is an associate producer.
Angelini’s self-published Hyena chronicles his journey from growing up in a factory town outside of Detroit and explores drugs, sex, and the human condition. He got his start as a guest and comic on The Jenny Jones Show, segueing to co-hosting his own show, The All Out Show, on Sirius Satellite Radio.
In addition to Entourage, Levinson and Wahlberg have executive produced together the HBO drama series Boardwalk Empire and the network’s upcoming Dawyne Johnson starrer Ballers. In cable, they exec produce the popular A&E docu-series Wahlburgers, featuring Wahlberg and his family.
