WME | IMG has acquired Dixon Talent Inc., James Dixon’s boutique firm that represents some of the top late-night and comedic talent, including Stephen Colbert, Carson Daly, Jimmy Kimmel, Bill Simmons and Jon Stewart.
Dixon Talent Inc. will continue to run as an autonomous entity with Dixon serving in his current role. For more than a decade, since he launched New York-based Dixon Talent in 2001, James Dixon has managed to stay independent and keep his clients as their careers and visibility grew. They will now get the servicing of a major agency. Prior to becoming a manager, Dixon was an agent at CAA and headed the comedy arm of Artists Management Group. He previously was a talent agent at the William Morris Agency and created and headed the agency’s comedy division from 1985-1999.
“James has built his business on two core philosophies that are intrinsic to WME | IMG: a belief in great talent and applying an entrepreneurial approach to representation,” said WME | IMG Co-CEO Patrick Whitesell. Added co-CEO Ari Emanuel, “We look forward to extending his business even further through the resources WME | IMG has to offer across each of its divisions.”
Dixon is responsible for launching some of today’s top comedians and personalities such as Colbert, Daly, Kimmel, Simmons, and Stewart. In addition, he has been involved with several successful television series such as Everybody Loves Raymond, King Of Queens, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and The Man Show.
