Rick Gonzalez (Coach Carter) has landed a series regular role on ABC Family comedy pilot Tough Cookie, from Awkward creator Lauren Iungerich and David Janollari. It revolves around a young mother who isn’t ready to parent and her daughter who doesn’t want to be parented. It takes a village to raise a child — or, rather, a child to raise a village. Gonzalez, repped by Framework and Domain, will play Seth Whitfield, who works for the San Francisco Department of Children’s Services. Gonzalez was a series regular on USA’s Rush and appeared in feature War Of The Worlds.
Jordan Hinson (Eureka) is set as a regular and Amy Sedaris (Strangers With Candy) will guest star in ABC Family’s workplace comedy pilot Kevin From Work, from Barbie Adler, Aaron Kaplan and McG. It centers on Kevin (Noah Reid), an adorable but lonely young man who’s unlucky in love and professes his love to his beautiful and quirky co-worker Audrey (Paige Spara), thinking he’ll never see her again after he accepts a job offer overseas. But then that job offer is rescinded, and now they have to continue to work with each other. Hinson, repped by APA, Inphenate and attorney Neil Meyer, will play Roxie, Kevin’s younger sister who moves to Los Angeles on a whim, and, unlike her brother, who struggles with life, things just always seem to work out for her. Sedaris will play Julia, Kevin’s boss, who appears to delight in taunting Kevin sexually, with the knowledge that he’ll never get a promotion or a raise.
