Louis CK’s long-time collaboration with FX is yielding another potential series. The network has given a pilot order to Better Things, created by and starring Pamela Adlon as an actress raising three daughters. Louis CK and Adlon will co-write the pilot, which Louis CK will direct. Adlon, Louis CK, Blair Breard and Dave Becky of 3 Arts will exec produce for FX Prods.

This is a milestone for FX as it would mark the traditionally testosterone heavy cable network’s first comedy series with a female lead.

Adlon is writer-producer on Louie and has a recurring role on the show. She starred opposite Louis CK in his previous comedy series, Lucky Louie on HBO.

This marks the latest project to come out of the overall deal that Louis CK’s Pig Newton banner has at FX Prods. Its first pilot order was for Baskets, a comedy starring Zach Galifianakis. That project has already been picked up to series to launch in 2016.
