EXCLUSIVE: While we wait for the distribution deals to get rolling, the agencies are filling the gap signing all the new helming talent here. The latest: CAA has signed Justin Kelly, whose feature directorial debut I Am Michael premieres Thursday. This is based on gay activist Michael Glatze’s 2007 article “Confessions Of A Former Gay Rights Leader.” James Franco plays a man who rejects his homosexuality and becomes a Christian pastor. Zachary Quinto and Emma Roberts also star.

Kelly wrote the film, and Gus Van Sant exec produced it. CAA agents viewed a rough cut and signed him off that. Attorney Peter Nichols also reps the filmmaker.
