EXCLUSIVE: Marking the Sundance Film Festival debut of Paul Weitz as a director, Grandma is a darkly funny and also touching film of one long day in the life of one very frayed family. The pic is led by Emmy winner and recent Kennedy Center honoree Lily Tomlin as the acerbic grandmother to the urgently troubled Sage, played by Julia Garner – as the clip, which features some 4-letter words, above reveals.
Grandma premieres on January 30 with a Closing Night gala in Park City. Written by Weitz as well, the pic also stars Sam Elliot, Judy Greer and Marcia Gay Harden. WME are handling the rights.
And BTW, the About A Boy director previously appeared at Sundance as an actor in Mike White’s 2000 comedy Chuck & Buck.
