“War is now a first-person shooter.” Here’s the international trailer for Good Kill, which stirred discussion after its premiere in Competition at Venice. Ethan Hawke stars as Tommy Egan, a U.S. Air Force drone pilot who spends his days blasting targets halfway around the world from a Las Vegas air base before heading home to his family. With a history of combat flights — “I am a pilot, and I’m not flying,” Egan laments — he spars with his wife (January Jones) and numbs his boredom, rage and guilt with booze. Eventually, his ability to follow orders reaches a breaking point. Zoe Kravitz, Bruce Greenwood and Jake Abel also star. Andrew Niccol wrote and directed the Voltage Pictures film, which IFC Films acquired in October.
