Season 5 of HBO’s flagship drama series Game Of Thrones will debut on April 12, the network said at the top of its TCA session today. The blockbuster fantasy drama was renewed for two seasons last April. HBO comedies Veep and Silicon Valley will return the same night for Season 4 and Season 2, respectively.
The next new HBO original scripted series to debut will be political comedy The Brink, exec produced by Jerry Weintraub, Roberto Benabib and Jay Roach and starring Jack Black, Tim Robbins and Pablo Schreiber. It will premiere in the summer.
Bessie, HBO Films’ biopic starring Queen Latifah as blues singer Bessie Smith, will debut in the spring. Also coming up on HBO is Sinatra: All Or Nothing At All, the network’s two-night, four-hour documentary directed by Alex Gibney, which will mark the 100th year since the iconic entertainer’s birth.
HBO sibling Cinemax has also firmed up its 2015 original lineup. Following Banshee, which returns for a third season tomorrow night, Strike Back will launch its fourth and final season in the summer, while breakout The Knick will kick off its second season in the fall.
