Encouraged by Galavant‘s solid premiere on Sunday, ABC is giving the musical fairytale comedy extra sampling on the network’s signature comedy night, Wednesday. The first two episodes of Dan Fogelman’s Galavant will air again at 10 PM tomorrow, January 7, following the return to originals of ABC’s strong 8-10 PM comedy block anchored by Modern Family. The four Wednesday comedies should provide suitable lead-in for Galavant.
This marks Fogelman’s return to Wednesday, where his previous ABC comedy series The Neighbors originally aired at 8:30 PM. ABC had scheduled repeats of freshman Tuesday drama Forever in the Wednesday 10 PM hour for the next couple of weeks, before Nashville returns on February 4. For now, the Galavant airing is a one-time thing, with Forever repeats slated for the next two to three weeks, but if the musical comedy continues to do well on Sunday, don’t be surprised if ABC brass keep the repeats on Wednesday.
In the show’s debut, back-to-back episodes of Galavant drew a 2.1 and 1.9 rating in adults 18-49 on Sunday, the third-highest-rated comedy premiere this season.
