Last night’s Cincinnati Bengals-Pittsburgh Steelers game marked the season finale of NBC’s Sunday Night Football. The game between the two teams that had already secured playoff berths drew a 12.7 rating from 8:30-11:30 PM ET in metered market households. That was down significantly from last year’s Week 17 game (16.8), a “win or go home” matchup between popular NFL team the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. Versus the last Week 17 game that was not “win or go home” (Bengals-Jets in 2009), last night’s face-off was up +11%.

CBS was the only other English-language network last night to offer originals. They were shifted by an NFL overrun, which scrambled the fast nationals. For the half-hours only featuring one show, CBS’ Sunday programs averaged: 1.7 in 18-49 (60 Minutes), 1.8 (Undercover Boss, 1.4 last week), and 1.4 (The Mentalist, 1.3 last week).

This was The Mentalist‘s final airing on Sunday. It will finish its final season in the Wednesday 8 PM slot beginning January 7.
