After first shoring up series development with the hire of Jenna Glazier as SVP Television Series, Sonar Entertainment CEO Gene Stein has made a move in the longform area by bringing Tom Patricia as SVP Limited Series, Miniseries and Movies.

This marks veteran Patricia’s return to the company, which has long longform traditions going back to its launch by Robert Halmi Jr. and Robert Halmi Sr. in 1979 as a producer of TV movies and miniseries. Patricia worked as EVP, Movies and Miniseries for Sonar predecessor RHI Entertainment for several years, beginning in 2009. “Tom’s creative instincts are impeccable – he has an amazing talent for spotting great content and turning it into compelling television,” said Stein.

Patricia most recently worked as a consultant for Lionsgate Television since 2013. He oversaw all long-form television development and served as producer on the company’s NBC mini Rosemary’s Baby.

Patricia previously held senior posts at Michael Ovitz’s Artists Television Group and Peter Guber’s Mandalay Entertainment and executive produced Emmy-nominated movie Homeless To Harvard for Lifetime.

Sonar currently is in production on the Eli Roth-helmed series South Of Hell for WEtv and Shannara, based on the best-selling novels, for MTV, both slated to premiere in 2015. Scheduled to begin production in 2015 is Taboo, starring Tom Hardy, for BBC One and FX.
