UPDATE 12:20 PM PT: BBC America has now fixed February 4 to launch Broadchurch‘s second season in the U.S.

PREVIOUS, 9:54 AM PT: Fox’s version of Broadchurch, Gracepoint, will reach its climax tonight in the U.S., finally revealing the person responsible for the death of Danny Solano. In the meantime, the original ITV series is gearing up for its second season and has now set a January 5 start. After several teases, the first one-minute trailer for Broadchurch‘s sophomore run in the UK has just dropped (see below). The Kudos-produced, BAFTA-winning drama stars David Tennant (who’s also in Gracepoint) and Olivia Colman as detectives Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller. Both return for season 2 along with Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan and Arthur Darvill. New castmembers include Charlotte Rampling, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Eve Myles and James D’Arcy. One of the big questions surrounding the series has been how creator/writer Chris Chibnall and crew would advance the story in the 2nd season, but we do know it picks up where the story left off in 2013 — and the trailer provides more of a hint about what’s to come.
