It was a “dream come true” working with director Clint Eastwood on American Sniper, the story of Chris Kyle, the U.S. military’s most lethal sniper, said screenwriter Jason Hall. Hall adapted the script from Kyle’s autobiography after Kyle was killed by a fellow soldier in Texas on a gun range after returning from service.
Bradley Cooper stars as Kyle, and the film also features Siena Miller and Luke Grimes. Cooper and Eastwood produced the film with Andrew Lazar, Robert Lorenz and Peter Morgan. The film debuts in limited release on Christmas Day, and goes wide on Jan. 16. It is being distributed by Warner Bros.
Hall was speaking at Deadline’s recent Oscar showcase, The Contenders, with our awards columnist Pete Hammond.
