It was a bad midterm Election Night for Democrats overall but a good one for Democrats supported by the WGA West’s political action committee. California Governor Jerry Brown and Attorney General Kamala Harris both won re-election, as did Sens. Al Franken of Minnesota, Ed Markey of Massachusetts, Cory Booker of New Jersey and Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire — all of whom the guild’s PAC said “have demonstrated support for the Writers Guild’s public policy priorities.”

Early-VoteIn the California congressional races, all of the WGA PAC-supported candidates appear headed for victory, including Doris Matsui, Anna Eshoo, Lois Capps, Addam Schiff, Tony Cárdenas, Karen Bass. Zoe Lofgren and Ted Lieu, the former state legislator who co-authored California’s new film tax incentives bill.
