A couple of weeks after FX ended The Bridge, the series’ co-star Thomas M. Wright has boarded another cable drama, WGN America’s Outsiders (formerly Titans). Wright has been cast in a lead role on the series, a tale of struggle for power and control in the hills of Appalachia, from playwright Peter Mattei, producers Peter Tolan and Paul Giamatti, Sony Pictures TV and Tribune Studios.
Outsiders tells the story of the Farrell clan, a family of outsiders who’ve been in these parts since before anyone can remember. Living off the grid and above the law on their mountaintop homestead, they’ll protect their world and defend their way of life using any means necessary. Wright will play Sheriff Houghton, a good cop, a functioning bureaucrat in a world that doesn’t ask a lot of him, but just below the surface is a deeply troubled man.
In addition to The Bridge, Australian actor Wright co-starred in the miniseries Top Of The Lake, earning a Critics Choice TV Award nomination. He will next be seen in the feature Everest.
