It is every parent’s worst nightmare, yet some of the best television I have seen in a very long time, as my video review above says. Premiering November 15 on Starz, The Missing is a haunting and compelling chronicle of a young boy who disappears in 2006 and the resulting broken lives of his parents. As hard as that might be to watch, this eight-episode limited series is, to put it briefly, amazing.

First broadcast by the BBC in the UK last month, The Missing is written by Jack and Harry Williams and directed by Tom Shankland. With stellar performances by James Nesbitt and Frances O’Connor as the parents of the 5-year-old, The Missing is not to be missed.
