Fox taketh away, and Fox giveth. On the heels of Fox brass’ decision to cut the order of Universal TV-produced freshman comedy series Mulaney by three episodes, the network is boosting the order of another Universal TV comedy, The Mindy Project, by six episodes. Originally picked up for 15 episodes, Mindy will now produce a virtually full-season 21 episodes.

Mindy has not been much stronger than Mulaney — recently bumped to the Sunday 7:30 PM time slot — in Live+Same Day delivery; Mindy logged a 1.1 in adults 18-49 this past Tuesday. But Fox is touting the comedy’s DVR/multi-platform gains and female appeal. In most current ratings, it is averaging a 1.6 among adults 18-49 and  is a top-five live-action comedy with women 18-34.

Mindy has been logging 30-day multiplatform lifts of up to +99% this season vs Live+SD.
