Kurt Sutter is bringing his trusted Sons Of Anarchy lieutenant, director/executive producer Paris Barclay, to his new FX drama project The Bastard Executioner. Barclay will direct and executive produce the pilot, from Fox 21, Imagine TV and FX Prods. Barclay is the second key member of the SOA crew to join Sutter on his new project, along with SOA star, Sutter’s wife Katey Sagal, who confirmed that she will have a role in the pilot.

Created by Sutter, The Bastard Executioner is a period drama that tells the story of a warrior knight in King Edward II’s charge who is brosutterinstagramken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But when that violence finds him again, he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all. Sutter and Barclay executive produce alongside Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo. Production is set for Wales in early 2015.

As he is transitioning from the recently wrapped SOA to The Bastard Executioner, Sutter today posted this image on Instagram with the caption, New writers. New show. New mistakes.

New Writers, Kurt says? What's the trick to getting him to read my specs and consider me?...

Barclay, repped by Paradigm and manager Steve Lovett, has directed 15 episodes of SOA, including the series’ upcoming penultimate episode. He also stepped in to direct some scenes from the series finale when Sutter, who helmed it, fell ill during filming and had to undergo an appendectomy.
