EXCLUSIVE:  The Mark Gordon Company has optioned Molly Bloom’s memoir, Molly’s Game, for Aaron Sorkin to adapt. Mark Gordon will produce. He and Sorkin are currently involved with the Steve Jobs film for Sony Pictures, the one that Danny Boyle will direct, with Michael Fassbender likely to star. Sorkin wrote that script based on the Walter Isaacson bestselling biography and Gordon is producing alongside Scott Rudin and Guymon Casady.

Bloom is an intriguing subject. A world-class skier since she could walk, she is equal parts talented, brilliant and headstrong. By the time she was 21 she was ranked No. 3 in North America in moguls while maintaining a 3.9 GPA as a political science major in college. Stung after failing to make the Olympic team, she decided to take a year off before law school, get a waitressing job in Los Angeles and enjoy warm weather for a while. Through a bizarre set of circumstances as well as untapped entrepreneurial skills, she ended up making millions by running, for eight years, the most exclusive high-stakes poker game in the world. Her life came crashing down when 17 FBI agents armed with automatic weapons rang her doorbell.

Sorkin is currently writing the screenplays for The Politician, based on the Andrew Young book about the rise and fall of presidential hopeful John Edwards, and the Michael Lewis book Flashboys. Also, the final season of his HBO series The Newsroom premiered last Sunday. Gordon is separately producing with Todd Phillips Arms And The Dudes, which Phillips is directing for Warner Bros, and he exec produces Ray Donovan, Criminal Minds and Grey’s Anatomy.
