CBS will begin trotting out James Corden this week; the heir to the network’s Late Late Show will make his first appearance as a guest on David Letterman’s Late Show this Friday. Corden, who stars in the film Into The Woods, debuting in theaters on December 25, is taking over as host of Late Late Show on March 9,. Craig Ferguson announced on April 28 that he intended to leave the show, after CBS made it apparent he wasn’t getting Letterman’s gig. Ferguson’s last day is December 19; Letterman has announced his departure but not set a date and is being replaced by Stephen Colbert. Ben Winston, exec producer of the UK version of The X Factor, who directed Corden in the above video, is going to  executive produce Corden’s Late Late Show.

The bar’s set high on Friday’s Letterman show — his other guest is TV producer Norman Lear, who’s written a new memoir, Even This I Get To Experience.
