20th Century Fox TV is holding on to Friends With Better Lives co-star Zoe Lister-Jones in a major way. The studio has signed the indie movie actress-screenwriter in a deal that includes a substantial talent hold with a premium script commitment for her and her writing/producing partner Daryl Wein to develop a project for Lister-Jones to star and Wein to direct.

Lister-Jones played one of the six leads on the CBS comedy FWBL, which was produced by 20th TV. The studio has been consistently mining the indie scene for talent, luring Zooey Deschanel for New Girl, Lister-Jones for FWBL and last season getting Greta Gerwig for How I Met Your Dad.

Real-life couple Lister-Jones and Wein burst on the indie scene with their breakup dramedy Breaking Upwards, which they wrote, directed and starred in, making it for about $15,000. It became a media darling and landed an art house release from IFC. They followed that up with Lola Versus for Fox Searchlight. The duo recently wrapped production on Consumed, which they wrote, with Wein directing and Lister-Jones starring for their their production company Mister Lister Films. Lister-Jones is repped by WME and attorney Karl Austen.
