Hart Of Dixie co-star Wilson Bethel is expanding his relationship with the series’ executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage as well as the network and studio behind the small-town drama series, the CW and Warner Bros. TV, with two new gigs.
As an actor, Bethel has joined ABC’s 10-episode drama series The Astronaut Wives Club, written/executive produced by Savage and executive produced by Schwartz, as a regular. Based on Lily Koppel’s book, the series tells the real story of the women who stood beside some of the biggest heroes in American history during the height of the space race. Bethel will play Scott Carpenter, the most laid-back of the astronauts and husband to Rene Carpenter (Yvonne Strahovski). Because Astronaut Wives Club is a 10-episode limited series, with Bethel expected to appear in eight, and Hart Of Dixie has a 10-episode order, Bethel can successfully juggle both regular roles, filming the ABC drama while the CW series is on hiatus.
As a writer, Bethel has closed a blind script deal with Warner Bros. TV to pen a drama project for the CW. He has writing experience — Bethel wrote, produced and starred in the CW digital series Stupid Hype and L.A. Rangers. Additionally, he penned the viral Funny or Die video Call Me Doctor starring Hart Of Dixie leading lady Rachel Bilson.
Bethel is repped by Gersh, LINK, Zero Gravity and Morris Yorn.
