Will Packer, the producer behind the the Ride Along and Think Like A Man feature franchises, is turning to his own experiences for a comedy project, this time in TV. NBC has put in development Like Father, Like Son, a half-hour comedy from Will Packer Productions and Universal TV, where the company has a first-look deal. Written by Michael Pennie (Raising Hope), who is under an overall deal at Uni TV, Like Father, Like Son is inspired by actual events from Packer’s life. It centers on a recently divorced man in his early thirties who is just starting to enjoy the benefits of being young, successful and single when he learns he has a fifteen-year-old son from a one-night-stand he had in college. Packer and Pennie executive produce, with Will Packer Productions head of TV Korin Huggins co-executive producing.

This marks Will Packer Prods.’ third TV sale this season under the Uni TV deal. The company also has an Uncle Buck remake at ABC and comedy #PeopleAreTalking at NBC.

Packer, repped by UTA and Ziffren Brittenham, has produced seven No. 1 films: No Good Deed (2014), Ride Along (2014), Think Like A Man Too (2014), Think Like A Man (2012), Takers (2010), Obsessed (2008) and Stomp The Yard (2007). Pennie, repped by UTA and Jared Levine, executive produced NBC’s Jerrod Carmichael comedy presentation last season, which has been repiloted by the network.
