Hey Los Angeles commuters! You’ll be happy to know the latest traffic nightmare  — yesterday’s closing of a stretch of Hollywood Boulevard so Taylor Swift could perform an outdoor concert on Jimmy Kimmel Live! — was for a good cause: JKL scored his largest edge to date over NBC’s Tonight Show — which was a repeat —  and also beat CBS’s David Letterman repeat despite its football lead-in.

Makes it all worthwhile, right?

Kimmel’s usual Shonda Rhimes Thursday Bump was supercharged this week when Swift guested on his show for an interview and to perform outside on Hollywood Blvd. Her performance, and an interview with Alfred Enoch, star of Rhimes’ new Thursday drama How To Get Away With Murder, gave JKL its highest preliminary rating on any night in more than six months — since the show’s Jimmy Kimmel Live: Behind The Scandalabra special that followed the season wrapper of Rhimes’ Scandal last April.  In household ratings, Kimmel logged a 3.0 rating, easily beating Jimmy Fallon repeat’s 2.3 and Letterman repeat’s 2.2; in the demo, Kimmel’s 1.1 rating outstripped Fallon’s 0.9 and Dave’s 0.8.
