One of The Voice‘s new coach additions, Pharrell Williams, is extending his stay. The Happy hitmaker will be returning for the eighth cycle of NBC’s reality series in early 2015 alongside original coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera, coming back from a maternity leave after sitting out the last two seasons. The current seventh cycle of the Emmy-winning show features Williams, Levine and Shelton, along with Gwen Stefani who is filling in for Aguilera. Williams took a seat that had been vacant since the departure of original coach CeeLo Green.

The Voice remains primetime’s No. 1 reality show, with Monday’s edition averaging a 4.0 rating in 18-49 and 12.9 million viewers overall and Tuesday originals delivering a 4.1 and 13.5 million viewers in “live plus same day” results. In L+SD, The Voice is the second highest rated entertainment program behind The Big Bang Theory. The Voice”is produced by Talpa Media USA Inc. and Warner Horizon Television. The series was created by John de Mol, who serves as executive producer along with Mark Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Marc Jansen and Lee Metzger.
