Childhood friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will be joined by another famous Hollywood duo on HBO’s upcoming revival of Project Greenlight. Writers-directors-producers Peter and Bobby Farrelly have joined the reality series, which has selected its 12 finalists. The two will join Project Greenlight executive Project-Greenlight1producers, Damon, Affleck and Adaptive Studios’ Marc Joubert, on the judging panel as they whittle down the field of directors until a winner is chosen. The Farrelly brothers then will serve as mentors for the rookie filmmaker as he/she embarks on making their first feature. The Farrelly brothers have ties to the Project Greenlight franchise. Their 2011 movie Hail Pass was written by Season 1 winner Peter Jones. And Project Greenlight‘s Damon starred in their 2003 feature Stuck on You. “Bobby and I are thrilled to be involved in Project Greenlight,” Peter Farrelly said. “It’s a great platform for emerging filmmakers and we love working with Matt and Ben.”

Out of 5,000 submissions, 200 aspiring filmmakers were asked to submit bio videos. Based on them, the producers picked 20 semi-finalists who uploaded short videos for people to view and vote on. The winner of the popular vote,  Mark Manalo, whose 3-minute short The Present Trauma went viral with more than 1.7 views, automatically made the list of finalists, which was expanded to 12 because of ties. (You can watch their videos here): They will be flown to Los Angeles, and the winner will be unveiled in November. Here is the list.
