Participant Media has come aboard as co-financier on Our Brand Is Crisis, the political comedy-drama now filming in New Orleans under director David Gordon Green. Sandra Bullock stars in the adaptation of Rachel Boynton’s 2005 documentary as “Calamity” Jane Bodine, a retired political consultant brought in to help an unpopular Bolivian president get re-elected. Things get personal when Jane’s nemesis, Pat Candy (Billy Bob Thornton), arrives to lead the opposition’s campaign. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy scribe Peter Straughan penned the screenplay, and Smokehouse Pictures’ George Clooney and Grant Heslov are producing. Participant’s Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King have come on as executive producers alongside Bullock and Stuart Besser. Anthony Mackie, Scoot McNairy, Zoe Kazan, Ann Dowd, Reynaldo Pacheco, Dominic Flores, Louis Arcella, Octavio Gómez Berríos, and Joaquim de Almeida also star. Warner Bros will distribute.
