NBC NewsPeacock Productions is expanding its Los Angeles office, and today said it had named Melody Shafir as VP Development. In this newly created position, Shafir will oversee all of Peacock Productions’ U.S. development, including LA, New York and Miami. Shafir will be responsible for all original programming, series and format development and will report to Benjamin Ringe, SVP Development and Executive Producer.

Sharon Scott is president and General Manager of Peacock Productions.

Shafir previously served as an executive producer at BBC Worldwide Productions; among her credits, she developed USA Network’s Vanderbilt MDs, Bravo’s Ladies Of London, OWN’s Lives On Fire, BBC America’s Mud, Sweat And Gears and TLC’s Bama Belles. Shafir served as a showrunner on Vanderbilt MDs and Lives On Fire.
