EXCLUSIVE: Griffin Dunne is attached to direct Married Sex, an adaptation of Jesse Kornbluth’s new novel which was recently optioned by Chockstone Pictures partners Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz, and Nick Wechsler. That trio will produce and Kornbluth will write the script. Dunne provides the log line: “Married Sex deals with the complexities of matrimony and the challenges, fantasies, and adventure it takes to keep a sex life, well, alive. What drew me to Jesse’s remarkably intimate look at a marriage is how the addition of another woman in the bedroom will play havoc with even the most loving couple’s relationship. The exploration of desire as ecstasy in the short run, and consequential in the long, is a timeless theme and a story I look forward to telling.”
Paula Mae Schwartz said: “Griffin Dunne and iconoclastic blogger and author Jesse Kornbluth, have joined forces to turn the dream of the menage a trois into reality. With wit and humor, Kornbluth tells how a happily married couple break sexual boundaries with surprising — and irreversible — results.”
Producer Nick Wechsler said: “I’ve worked with Griffin. He will do something very truthful, accurate, funny and surprise us. He’s an expert on New York life, understands as well as anyone the tone and feel of marriages of intelligent couples, and has great ideas about how to cinematically approach the dramatic and comedic dynamics of this novel story.” Kornbluth will be an executive producer and Roger Schwartz is a co-producer. Dunne is repped by UTA and Kornbluth by Sylvie Rabineau of RWSG.
It’s the second recent director hiring for Chockstone and Wechsler after they set Neil Burger to helm an adaptation of the Olen Steinhauer spy novel All The Old Knives.
