IFC Films has acquired U.S. rights to Andrew Niccol’s Good Kill, which premiered at this year’s Venice Film Festival to a mix of boos and cheers owing to its hot-button subject matter. Ethan Hawke, January Jones, Zoe Kravitz, Bruce Greenwood and Jake Abel stars.

The timely pic, which Niccol wrote and directed, centers on an Air Force drone pilot (Hawke) who spends eight hours each day fighting the War on Terror by remote control and the remaining time at his suburban home, where he feuds with his wife (Jones), and numbs his boredom, rage, and guilt with alcohol. Eventually his ability to comply with his superiors’ directives reaches a breaking point.

Nicolas Chartier and Zev Foreman of Voltage Pictures, and Mark Amin of Sobini Films produced. The deal was negotiated by Sundance Selects/IFC Films’ Arianna Bocco with CAA on behalf of the filmmakers.
