I know it’s only rock’n’roll but when it comes to HBO’s new Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways, I just don’t like it. Watch my video review above of the show, a sequel of a sort to frontman Dave Grohl’s 2013 feature directorial debut Sound City, the eight-part series debuting tonight takes the band to eight iconic music cities across America.

In the process of making the new FF album, out in November, the band hit Chicago, Grohl’s hometown of HBO blue logoWashington D.C., LA, Nashville, Seattle, New Orleans, Austin and NYC and talked to legends and superstars like Buddy Guy, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Slash, Joan Jett, members of Fugazi, KISS, Bad Brains, Heart and The Eagles. Even President Barack Obama shows up at one point.

As much as I love the idea, I have some doubts about this self-described “love letter to American music.” Watch my review and let us know what you think about the show.
