Entertainment One Television on Tuesday unveiled an expansion of its international TV sales division in major markets worldwide. The reorganization will bring film and television content sales to traditional broadcasters and new-media partners together in a number of core eOne markets under single leadership and will support new hires in major markets during the coming year. Charlotte Thorp, Head of Television Sales and Business Development, now will oversee all UK sales efforts to traditional broadcasters and new media partners; Director of Sales Joey Sabella will lead eOne’s U.S. sales efforts; and Audrey Gardiner, eOne Films Canada VP Television and Digital, will lead sales in Canada.
Director Stephen Frears is set to receive a BFI Fellowship, the organization’s top honor. He will receive the award October 18 in London ahead of the close of the 58th London Film Festival. A two-time Oscar nominee for directing The Queen (2007) and The Grifters (1991), Frears’ features also include Philomena, Dirty Pretty Things, High Fidelity and Dangerous Liaisons. “Throughout his extraordinary career, Stephen has produced a body of work which never fails to surprise,” BFI Chairman Greg Dyke said. “From sweeping costume drama to powerful social realism, his films strike a perfect balance between drama, humor and pathos helping to make them a hit with audiences and critics alike.” The fellowship is awarded to individuals in recognition of their outstanding contribution to film or TV.
