Universal Pictures and Legendary’s Dracula Untold hit theaters last night and grossed $1.3 million heading into its opening weekend, but I will not be adding to the origin tale’s box office coffers. The pic starring Luke Evans as a young, pre-Dracula Vlad and Dominic Cooper as his nemesis doesn’t cut it despite its Game Of Thrones influences and big-scale special effects.

Gary Shore directed the pic, at one time titled Dracula: Year Zero, from a script by Matt Szazama and Burk Sharpless, who also are writing Gods Of Egypt and just signed on to pen a Lost In Space TV series reboot. The PG-13 pic opens wide today on 2,885 screens and cost $70 million.
