Nola Hart, an hourlong project from Samantha Who? co-creator Don Todd, has sold to ABC with penalty. The project, which Todd executive produces with Kyle Killen, hails from 20th Century Fox TV, where Todd is under an overall deal. Nola Hart extends the duo’s collaboration; last season, Todd worked on Killen’s Mind Games — also for ABC and 20th TV — assisting creator/executive producer Killen with showrunner duties.
Written by Todd, Nola Hart centers on a woman who wakes up in an airport with complete amnesia and hires a dysfunctional father-son detective agency to find out who she is. When to her own surprise she shows near-genius detective skills, the guys hire the woman to help them as they take on her ever-deepening “missing person” case. But as each new discovery changes the picture of her, they all have to wonder who they’ll find at the end of the journey –and will they be sorry they looked? Todd executive produces with Killen and Killen’s producing partner Scott Pennington at their Chapter Eleven Banner, which just inked a first-look deal with Paramount TV.
Under his 20th TV pact, Todd serves as a consulting producer on the studio’s Fox drama Sleepy Hollow. Todd, repped by Rothman Brecher, started his career with back-to-back stints on The Twilight Zone and Alf and has straddled the drama and comedy worlds ever since, working on such series as The Misfits Of Science, Caroline In The City, Ugly Betty and Hart Of Dixie.
