Discovery Studios has signed a production deal with Rob Kerr to develop and produce original programming for the studio. Kerr brings more than 25 years of experience to Discovery Studios, as a producer, director, writer and editor.  Most recently, he has served as executive producer for Velocity’s Iron Resurrection and co-executive producer for American Heroes Channel’s Secrets of the Arsenal.  Additionally, Kerr has worked on long-running series such as Discovery Channel’s MythBusters and National Geographic’s World’s Toughest Fixes; and served as writer/producer on History Channel’s Meat America.

“Rob brings his expertise, passion and creative vision to the table and we are confident his addition to Discovery Studios will generate even more original and engaging television,” Lee Bartlett, President of Discovery Studios Group and Production, said in today’s announcement.

In August, Discovery Communications named Eileen O’Neill to the new post of global group president at Discovery Studios, explaining the 25-year Discovery exec will now lead its worldwide production division, overseeing all international facilities and creative talent at Discovery Studios, managing the company’s in-house production units and serving on the board of directors of All3Media once that transaction has closed.  O’Neill will report to Bruce Campbell, who continues his oversight of the Discovery Studios Group in his recently expanded role of Chief Development and Digital Media Officer and General Counsel for Discovery Communications. Bartlett, who leads Discovery Studios under his portfolio, will continue to oversee the company’s global Business Affairs group as well as Discovery Consumer Products, Program Sales, Private Networks, Footage Sales and Discovery Music Source, also reporting to Campbell.
