FX Productions has closed a first-look production deal with Danny Boyle and Christian Colson’s production company, Telly Novella Productions. The pact stems from the duo’s collaboration with FX and FXP on Telemark, a 10-part miniseries for the cable network, which Boyle and Colson are developing with the third member of their Oscar-winning director-writer-producer team behind Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours —  Simon Beaufoy.

Under the two-year first-look deal, Boyle and Colson will develop series and miniseries for FX Networks’ channels FX, FXX and FXM. Boyle and Colson’s feature film work will continue to be routed through their movie labels Decibel Films and Cloud Eight Films under long-standing arrangements with Fox Searchlight and Pathé. The pact reunites Boyle and Colson with Peter Rice, Chairman and CEO, Fox Networks Group, who oversees FX Networks and FX Prods. As head of Fox Searchlight, he championed Slumdog Millionaire and shepharded it to a best film Oscar win. “Without question, Danny and Christian are two of the best and most talented filmmakers in this business,” he said.

Telemark, which marks Boyle, Colson and Beaufoy’s first project ever for American television, is written by Beaufoy based on the true story of the British-trained Norwegian resistance fighters who sabotaged Hitler’s nuclear development program during World War II.
