Birdman’ is the latest film from Mexican writer/director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, starring Michael Keaton in a terrific role as a washed-up former action-movie actor trying to revive his role with a Broadway production.

I’m a big fan of the fabulously swooping and darting handheld camera work of Oscar winner Emmanuel Lubezki (Gravity). And there’s much to like in the rest of the cast too, including a luminous Emma Stone, Edward Norton and Zach Galifianakis.

Inarritu co-wrote the screenplay with Armando Bo, Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolas Giacobone. The film is produced by Inarritu, John Lesher, Arnon Milchan and James W. Skotchdopole. The film, which opens this weekend, is being distributed by Fox Searchlight.
