Steven Van Zandt is bringing old friends to his Norwegian drama series Lilyhammer, which airs as a Netflix original. I hear Van Zandt’s The Sopranos co-star Tony Sirico has joined the upcoming third season in a recurring role, and Van Zandt’s longtime E Street Band mate Bruce Springsteen will be making a guest appearance. In episodes filmed in New York, I hear Sirico plays a priest, while Springsteen has been tapped to play the owner of a mortuary. This represents the Boss’ acting debut. He did a cameo in the movie High Fidelity (watch it below) but playing himself, not a character as is the case here.
Lilyhammer, which shoots both in the Norgwegian town of Lillehammer and in New York, stars Sopranos alum Van Zandt as a former mafia higher-up relocated to Lillehammer by the Federal Witness Protection Program after testifying against his boss. Sirico, repped by manager Bob McGowan, played Paulie “Walnuts” Gualtieri on The Sopranos and voices a recurring character on the hit Fox animated comedy Family Guy.
