The Exes has become the little engine that could. The TV Land comedy series has received a vote of confidence with an order for 12 additional episodes ahead of its fourth-season premiere. The pickup will bring Season 4 to a broadcast-size 24 episodes. The Exes has flown largely under the radar, with no big stars but a solid ensemble cast that includes Donald Faison, Wayne Knight, David Alan Basche, Kelly Stables and Kristen Johnston. However, shows have come and gone, while The Exes, which has been well received by fans and a favorite of TV Land brass, has become the only successful original TV Land comedy series outside of the Hot In Cleveland franchise.

Season 4 of the series debuts November 5, immediately following the season six premiere of Hot In Cleveland. “Everything we’ve seen from the upcoming season of The Exes is telling us it’s going to be the best one yet,” said TV land president Larry W. Jones. “Last week, we crossed the 50th episode threshold, and we thought – these episodes are SO good, let’s keep them going!” (Watch the preview clip above.)

This season on The Exes, recurring guest star Leah Remini returns as Stuart’s (Basche) sister Nicki, who has decided to stay in town much to Haskell’s (Knight) delight. After consciously uncoupling last season, Phil (Faison) and Eden (Stables) go their separate ways — Phil back to his ladies’ man habits, and Eden on to a new goal of going back to school. As for Holly (Johnston), she decides to work backwards in her love life; she has the date and location all set for her wedding, now she just needs the groom. The Exes is executive produced by Mark Reisman, Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis.
