HBO Documentary Films is acquiring U.S. rights to Nick Broomfield’s docu Tales Of The Grim Sleeper, about the 20-year police investigation surrounding the 2010 capture of serial killer Lonnie Franklin Jr. in South Los Angeles. HBO, which has landed four other Broomfield docus, plans to debut the film in 2015.

The deal was negotiated at the Toronto Film Festival by Josh Braun and David Koh of Submarine on behalf of Sky Atlantic, who originally commissioned the film.
