EXCLUSIVE: Paramount TV continues to mine the company’s feature library, JohnHlavin09screenpartnering with talent from the movies to adapt them as TV series. The company has teamed with Shooter star Mark Wahlberg for a drama series based on the 2007 conspiracy thriller, which has been set up at TNT. John Hlavin (Underworld: AwakeningThe Shield) will write the action project, now in development, and will executive produce with Wahlberg and his frequent collaborator Stephen Levinson.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the film, based on the novel Point of Impact by Stephen Hunter, centered on a marksman, former U.S. Marine Scout Sniper Bob Lee Swagger (Wahlberg), who is coaxed back into action only to be framed for murder and goes on the run.  Here is a trailer:

WME-repped Wahlberg and Levinson executive produce HBO’s The Boardwalk Empire, now in its final season, and A&E’s breakout unscripted series The Whalburgers and produce the upcoming Entourage movie having exec produced the HBO series. On the feature side, Hlavin, repped by UTA, 3 Arts and Karl Austin, is writing an original thriller for Studio Canal with Eric Newman producing and Jose Padilha (Robocop) attached to direct. His spec script Gunslinger made the Blacklist and was sold to Warner Brothers.

Paramount TV is co-producing with 20th Century Fox TV and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin TV Minority Report, a drama, which has a big put pilot commitment at Fox. The company also has a live staging of Grease at Fox, recently received a 13-episode pickup by sibling cable network Nickelodeon for a live-action musical comedy based on the 2003 Paramount feature School Of Rock and is developing a Shutter Island series for HBO with Martin Scorsese.
